Setup: The Asus GTX 480 went into an Antec 300 (3 case fans - 2*120mm on back, side and 1*140mm fan on top) containing an Asus m3n72-d motherboard, a quadcore AMD Phenom processor,
4GB of 1066MHz DDR2 and a Corsair 650 power supply. The card replaced a GTX280 and is powering a Samsung 2333SW monitor at 1920x1080 and the OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

Packaging: The Asus packaging looked professional and really solid. I was a tad disappointed to not find any games bundled but then again bundled games tend to add a few dollars to the
price of the card. Unlike EVGA cards, the SLI slot on the top of the card had no cover. Not a big deal. The rest of the card had nice little plastic insulation caps (the display ports
and the gold contacts).

Noise: The card when left to automatically manage the RPM of the fan (default setting) is virtually silent. Thanks to the side fan sucking air and the air hits the card directly, the idling

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Card in an Outdated Market, October 18, 2010

I came from an ATI Radeon HD 4870. What I noticed that changed was that I can max out AA to 32x QSAA. What I didn't notice was EVERYTHING ELSE. The graphics quality are the same with a higher FPS when playing "maxed out"--but I get the same FPS, on my old card, by turning off Anti Aliasing. DirectX 11? Throw that crazy idea out the window. DX11 does not add anything significant.

[DX10] Batman Arkham Asylum
[DX10] Crysis
[DX10] Crysis Warhead
[DX10] Dragonage: Origins
[DX10] Resident Evil 5
[DX11] Battlefield: Bad Company 2
[DX11] Medal of Honor 2010

I've tried this card with all my HD games and nothing was worth noting for the new card. Sure, I now can max out the Video options in every game, but it doesn't feel like a $500.00 investment.
