CRASHES on nVIDIA chipset motherboards,

I was experiencing exactly the same problem as posted by another user. I am using AMD Athlon XP 2800+ on DFI LANPARTY nFORCE-2 ULTRA motherboard with the *nVIDIA chipset*. ATI diagnostic program keeps pointing out that nVIDIA audio clock (built in to system board) is unstable. System freezed sporadically, especially more often when I use the ATI TV, and usually the sound will stop before the freeze. Called ATI long-distance to Canada, and all they could tell me was pretty much to re-install driver. Didn't work, so I got transferred to TIER-2 OR LEVEL-2 techs, and they told me the EXACT SAME THING -- re-install driver! Did not solve anything. I suspected nVIDIA chipset had something to do with it. Then I disabled AGP fastwrite from the BIOS, and all problems ceased. AGP fastwrite is known for causing system stability problems, but I can't be sure if RADEON 9700 is contributing to the problem. I've not read anything about this issue in the manual, FAQ, or from ATI...Read more

This is my third card in the ATI AIW series, and it rocks! As a 3D video card, although its not the king (anymore) its still plenty fast, its gorgeous. As a multimedia (TV, PVR, Video Capture, etc.) card, its the best single product out there. You get the best of everything, And it works.
Sorry for the guys who had problems: unless you got a dud card, I assure you its not the AIW 9700 Pro that's giving you grief. Check your setup, make sure you've installed all the lastest drivers (chipset, Motherboard, video card, etc.), and *follow* the instructions for the Catalyst driver installation. I have had no problems and have been enjoying beautiful 3D games, watching TV, PVR, etc. since installation.
Personally I would avoid mixing competitors products in the same rig (Nvidia chipset with ATI video?) but that should not cause a problem...
Unless you can get your hands on the AIW 9800 Pro, this is the one to get. If you're not interested in TV, PVR, etc., get the plain...Read more

I bought the 9700 all-in-wonder for a computer I built. I chose the all-in-wonder to record TV, too bad it never works like it should. I have installed every version of the software and drivers available from ATI and it will try and record TV but then it freezes. Keep in mind it records TV great if I am sitting in front of it watching it.
If you are looking for a product that will waste your time and cause you a great deal of frustration then ATI has a product for you. If you are looking for a product that will work as advertised then ATI is not the maker of choice.
