While the bundled software is not top-notch, it sure brings an immediate way to test your hardware. Performance-wise, this card passed all tests with flying colors. I tested it successfully with Lucas Arts'StarWars Star Fighter, Microsoft's Dungeon Siege, and some emulation applications that required 3d accelerators. MPEG playback improved notably using Windows Media player. Also, overall Windows navigation is now much smoother and with fewer delays, especially when using my clogged Start Menu. I play Half-Life and mods for it and they all run very good. This card is cheap and well worth it. If you want to upgrade a older 16mb card i would get this. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By "rcmonster" (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews This review is from: ATI Radeon 7000 64 MB DDR PCI Video Card (100430284CCS) (Personal Computers) ...There is only one place that you can get really caught in with XP and integrated graphics: the manual for the video card states that before you physically install the card, uninstall the old drivers. After you put in the Radeon 7000, you will then install the drivers. Well, XP will automatically install the old drivers for the integrated card, and you can do s**t about that, so when you are done with installing the new drivers, it will ask if you want to restart the computer now or later. Do LATER. Then re-uninstall the old drivers and DISABLE the old card. Now restart and you're set. |
