This review is from: BFG BFGE981024GTGE NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 Graphics Card with EcoIntelligence Low Power Design (Personal Computers) I bought this card from here because the price was decent - I compared it with many other on line stores and with tax and shipping, this is decently priced. I upgraded this card from a no-fan 7950GT xfx card. Now I can run COD and many others in close to max settings. Even my wife was stunned at how the games looked after installing this card. Here are a few things that made me purchase this card. 1. Eco friendly card = this card does not require you to insert a power plug into the card - it does not even have a plug for it. 2. I have dell E521 case which is not a conventional case - I cannot get any video card that takes up 2 slots. This was the best single slot card out at the market (as of June 2009) in terms of the specs and everything. It's on the smaller side for card at this level. 3. For just a little over $100, this card is a major bargain. I can easily run World of Warcraft, Aion, Left 4 Dead, and Dragon Age: Origins maxed out. Dragon Age is the most tolling of the games listed but this card had no problems at all running it smoothly. Also runs applications like Photoshop great. You won't get more bang for your buck. Also very easy to install. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Here's the BFG webpage for this product, where you can read its exact specs and requirements: [...] In case the page dies later, it says 550M-Hz core clock (possibly underclocked compared to a "non-green" 9800 GT). ALSO, let me quote the requirements for your computer's power supply: 350W PCI Express®-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 22A or more I was shocked this card only needs 22A... but make sure your system supports it. Also the card gets all its power directly from the PCI-E slot, and you don't plug an extra PCI-E power connector anywhere else! It's a pretty performance-powerful card, so this was shocking - I guess it really does some efficiency magic with the smaller power it consumes(?). Never noticed loud fan noise from it -...Read more |
