 Radeon 4870 Display card, By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Diamond 4870PE51GDT ATI Radeon HD 4870 PCIE 1024 MB GDDR5 Video Card (Personal Computers) I installed this card in my wife's Core 2 Duo computer which has 8 GB of memory and runs Vista 64 bit. I also purchased a 23 inch Acer monitor whose default setting is high definition. The card and monitor work beautifully. Card installed easily and runs with no problems except for the noise of the fan. The card requires two six pin power connectors and you can definitely tell when the machine both starts and sleeps. In the former, the fan noise is noticeable and just as noticeable when it stops. But the noise is not a major factor which can be mitigated by placement of the computer. In the six or so months we have had the card it has worked well.
My Radeon 3780 is also noisy but doesn't have the power of this card, especially for video. The price/performance ratio is excellent. |
