Summary: Great card 2010-06-26
Comment: The ATI 4890 is a great card. It performs equal to the Nvidia GTX275 while being cheaper. It is also very overclockable, with some models reaching 900MHz-1GHz.
It can also play Crysis maxed out at very high & AA at 1280x1024 with good frame rates. It also runs fairly cool - 50'C at idle (in a fairly warm 80'F room), and goes to around the high 70s'C at load.

My main complaint is that the card's fan is a bit noisy when overclocked and at load. At idle, it's fairly quiet, but at load you can definitely hear it through the computer case (my computer is about 2 feet away from me).

If you don't mind the additional noise, this is a great gaming card.

Summary: Broken Card, Broken Customer Service 2010-03-16
Comment: Bought this card last August. It worked well for a few months, however, the VPU would crash periodically while playing a variety of games. Then, last month, on one such crash the computer locked up and black screened.

Then when I attempted to reboot my computer the monitor would not turn on at all, blackness forever. I switched back to my old video card and the monitor started to respond again. So OBVIOUSLY there was something wrong with this video card.

I used the RMA service to send the card back to Diamond Multimedia. THEY SENT ME THE SAME CARD BACK TELLING ME THAT THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS! Just as a test of my sanity, I put the card back into my fully functional computer. BEHOLD! My monitor no longer functions. These people are idiots, I wasted money on the card, I wasted money sending it back to them, and they "Tested" it and determined that nothing was wrong.

Here is my suggestion - Never buy anything from Diamond Multimedia.

Summary: You will not get the video card shown in the pictures! 2010-02-11
Comment: The Video card shown in the pics is a Diamond4890xoc with the reference(stock) cooling assembly. The video card you will recieve is not reference cooling. It is inferior. The reference cooler expels the heat generated from the gpu through 3 heatpipes and out the back of the computer case. This non reference cooler only has 2 heatpipes and vents the hot air right back into your case. I bought this card thinking I was paying extra, the non reference card is up on diamonds own site for $199.99, for the reference cooler since it is shown in the pictures of the ad. DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THIS SALE. That said, the card is a 4890xoc and performs as such. I have serious doubts that this cheap thin plastic cooler with less heatpipes, thus less cooling capability, than stock can keep up with the factory OC for long at all.

Summary: Excellent video 2010-02-01
Comment: Great video card. Clean, crisp, sharp, vibrant, fast, and with less heat than anticipated.

Summary: Fast but do NOT buy this one! 2010-01-30
Comment: I got this card to play UT3 and it *is* very fast. The problem was that the fan started buzzing loudly after only a few weeks. I've had a repair ticket in with Diamond Multimedia which they've ignored for the last week. I tried calling and nobody ever comes on the line no matter how long I wait. I tried their live, online "chat" tech support, but they're never online during posted hours. So if you buy this and if fails, your dead. Patti

EDIT: Here's a cut'n'paste from the online RMA/CustomerService page at Diamond Media. Note the dates - also the page shows live chat has been "offline" the entire time - even though their posted hours for "online" is 8-5 M/F (did this company go bankrupt and not tell anyone??). They don't even respond to my email... I'll update this if they *ever* respond to me!!!

I need to get a warranty repair of my Diamond Radeon HD 4890 1GB video card. The cooling fan bearings have failed - the video card's cooling fan sometimes buzzes loudly and overheats.
