I've used this card for over a year and it has given me no fan issues. ++PROS++ Great price to performance ratio. Factory overclocked - meaning it's safe. It may be a generation older, but it still handles most games today on moderate-high settings at smooth, enjoyable frames. Copper piping and great cooling by a reliable brand - MSI. For the record, it runs Starcraft II, Modern Warfare, and Fallout 3 on High smoothly @ 1080p. It handles Age of Empires III and Sims 3 on Max settings smoothly @ 1080p! --CONS-- It's hard to overclock any further than it is so I didn't bother with it. No HDMI (not a Con for most...). I was very pleased with the card's performance, but when the card heated up and the fan kicked in it had a tendency to rattle noisily.
About two weeks ago the fan stopped rattling, apparently deciding to no longer participate in the cooling process. I'm now running my computer with the side door removed to help cool the system, but the computer still overheats and shuts off while playing Fallout. $160+ for six months does not strike me as an acceptable return for a graphics card, so I cannot recommend it. |
