I bought this card thinking I had the perfect match for my HTPC and HDTV, HDMI video + audio on one cable? Perfect! But not so fast... The HD video performance has been super. Before this card my CPU used to run 70% to 90% while watching a HD-DVD movie, after the card my CPU utilization dropped to 30% to 60%.
Too bad I haven't been able to get the HDMI Audio driver installed, and after emailing HIS twice I haven't received a response. I even ended up calling their Hong Kong office (the US office doesn't seem to have any staff), and was told in broken english "tech support web site only."
I played bioshock with this card, it isn't anything to write home about, DX10 performance at 720p was as bad as the reviews said. Best to switch to DX9 mode for games, which the card is pretty good but I couldn't tell much difference between it and my old ATI 1650 pro. So if you have a fairly recent ATI card, don't buy this card to accelerate your games, wait for the 2950...Read more
