Summary: AMD/ATI fooling customers by false UVD claims. Lies and false advertising 2007-05-30
Comment: The Radeon HD 2900 XT actually lacks UVD video acceleration. AMD/ATI fooled everyone, including online retailers and OEM partners. Unbelievable!! If you read the product description for the HIS Radeon HD 2900XT on Amazon's site, it says "Built-in with HDMI audio and video, HIS Radeon HD 2900XT enables a one-plug big-screen HD gaming experience with ATI Avivo HD video and display technology with advance high definition features including UVD technology".
Just a bunch of lies! The HD 2900XT does NOT include UVD hardware video processing, and this was falsely advertised by AMD-ATI all along. Will AMD be the subject of another lawsuit after advertising its HD 2900XT cards are UVD-enabled when none of them provide such functionality? I sincerely hope they get what they deserve.
As a customer who just bought an HD 2900XT card, I feel cheated by AMD/ATI's dishonest and despicable practices. I based my purchase decision on AMD's product description to find out after spending that much money that the UVD feature I paid for was not part of the package!!! This is unacceptable. Thanks AMD, you just lost another customer.

Room temp was around 90f when i tested and the card running at 63c idle with a 2D tweak it's possible to get that down to around 48c-52c.
Oblivion runs around 70fps with max settings. Stalker runs a average of 60fps maxed out. HL:LC around 84fps average all maxed.
As for fan noise i've only heard it about 4 times in the last 2 weeks and it's not that bad at all...
Heat is not all that bad really it can be as cool and as hot as the 8800GTX. Sadly i cannot say it can beat it or ever will with improved drivers which it does need.
There are AA problems with some games were the FPS does suffer for example Armed Assault. But that could be due to the game and drivers.
If you get this card i'd highly reconmend a much more powerfully CPU one with 1MB cach on it as you may find CPU lag.
And i wish people stop saying the card does not have UVD\HD as it does though hardware which at this time is disabled though software.
4 stars due to drivers not being better..
Overall no real problems and love playing all my games with this card as it does so much more than my 7900GT OC SC did.
