I purchased this device to use as an HDMI test source. My laptop does not have an HDMI output and I need one at times for testing HDMI systems. It works very well for this purpose, that is generating static test pattens. If you are looking for something that will display high quality HD video, then you will be disapointed with the results. I have 2.2 GHz dual core processor with the minimum recommended GPU and it can't keep up with the compression. Be sure to check out the system requirements on Display Link's website if you are going to use this for full motion HD video.

However it does work very well with static images and that is why I purchased it.

Did not work,the signal from my video card did the same thing not being able to be detected by my hdmi switcher so i have to connect to my tv,I like to use mt tv as a monitor with all video going thru my hdmi switcher.
