Several years ago, I got a PC Chips A13G+ (V.1) mobo with integrated graphics (GeForce 6100). I got away with using the onboard for awhile, but recently I started doing some online gaming and I learned the hard way that no matter how much RAM you add, you're always going to suffer a degradation in performance with integrated graphics. This means having to constantly deal with lag, as well as needing to put the game's graphics on the crudest settings.

Upgrading the mobo with a PCI-E card seemed to be a no brainer. Problem was that at the official PC Chips site, it gave a very dire warning that unless you bought a card from an "approved" list of models, your computer was going to blow up. I could've just gotten one of them, but since my mobo was several years old, all the models were discontinued and hard to find. I installed this on an older PC running Ubuntu 10.10 so that I could make use of an extra monitor. After a couple of reboots and installing the latest drivers, this guy was pushing 2 monitors with no problems. The picture is crisp and clean and the card handles the all of compiz's 3D effects with aplomb.
I don't know that I would recommend this for gaming, but it is just the thing for anyone trying to convince an older PC with PCI-E to run dual monitors.

I really did not notice a difference, but it is probably me and not the card. I am not a gammer or anything like that, just an average PC user.
