5.0 out of 5 stars Another great nVidia card from MSI, August 23, 2008

I waited for a long time until Amazon offered the GTX 260 OC that MSI made, and the waiting was worth it. I was originally going for the 280, but you can pretty much buy 2 of the 260's for the price of a single 280, and the price to performance ratio was not in favour of the 280's.

General notes: as any other user would report, this card is huge! Make sure you get a motherboard that allows you to install this card and still be able to use the PCI slots adjacent to it. I used the MSI P7N Diamond, and it accommodated it just fine.

It also requires a lot of power, forget installing this card on any PSU with less than 600 Watts, or you'll be seeing messages along the lines of "the card's performance has been lowered due to power deficiency", or something like that. It's also a safer bet to go with an SLI-certified PSU just in case you would like to pursue that path in the future.

Performance: coupled with a decent enough CPU you're guaranteed to see...Read more

I built 2 systems with identical video cards, over a year of rock solid stable performance.

My System:
Intel Core2Quad, 6 gigs of ram, 2 Terrabytes of HD space on 3 sata HD's, GTX 260 video card, XFX 780i SLI motherboard. 750 watt EPS PFC PSU

My Wifes
AMD Phenom 2 - Quad core, 4 gigs of ram, 500 gigs of HD space on 1 sata drive, GTX 260 Video card, Low end $20 AMD board. 35 dollar off brand 800 watt PSU.

Surprisingly, despite her system costing about 1/8th of mine, we are nearly identical in all benchmarking. Both systems have been running 24/7 for a year, rarely needing reboots, and never any issues. Point of this, was to say that an expensive system, and a cheap system both can achieve some amazing performance marks using this card.

Both systems max out the performance numbers in Vista.
I now have Windows 7 on my pc, with 7.2 accross the board, except with HD.

This card works flawlessly on...Read more
