As long as you are not looking for a gaming card, this card adds a nice performance boost for more than just graphics. The Nvidia CUDA libraries allow for using the GPU's for programs that are coded to run multithreaded. It really helps that OS X 10.6 more fully exploits multiprocessor environments and that the 4800 card adds 192 more processors.

If you want to do 3-d displays on your mac pro, this is the only way to do that.

If you are an using adobe cs4 you will see an obvious performance improvement.

This card also works well in a multi-video card environment.

The board worked out of the box, and the only difficulties so far were of my own making. As a converter from Windows to Apple systems, I have much to learn, so will confine my comments to mechanics for others who are considering this product. It is well packaged, both on delivery and in handling. It is fully cased, thus making installation easy compared with open board formats. The installation is simple if you read the instructions which came with the MAC PRO manual about moving the PCI cage. Telephone support from PNY has been excellent,

CUDA turns out to mean Compute Uniform Device Architecture.

While the device is a bit noisy, it interacts well with my older flat screen monitors an allows me to move to the Apple system without needing to make expensive decisions about new displays. I am not a gamer and mainly interested mathematic, statistic, and photographic display.

I don't have to say much about this product, is enough if you look the work we're creating, time saver comes to mind, To be able to work faster allows us to get more clients and that is affecting our bottom line, MO money!!! I recommend the NVIDIA Quadro 4800 to any professional, great technology!!! I want some more!!!
