I have a compaq computer with no AGP slot and have been looking for a good PCI graphics card that was not too expensive. When I saw this Geforce 2 MX 400, I was very surprised. I did not even know that there were 64 MB graphics cards that were PCI. I bought the card immediately and installed it. Installation was very easy and once everything was set up and the drivers were installed, I decided to test the card. I played Max Payne with it, a game which I could not play previously because my graphics card was not good enough. The card performed very well and I was amazed! I had such good graphics and smooth game play. The graphics look very realistic and I do not know how I lived without this card. I can play any game I want and I have amazing graphics now. I gave this product five stars because of the excellent graphics and the affordable price. At times, the card seems a tad bit slow, but it is...Read more 28 of 29 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: PNY VCGX4P64SPB GeForce2 MX400 PCI 64MB Video Card (Personal Computers) If you have an older computer with an integrated (on-board) graphics board and find that you can no longer play the latest games then you need to upgrade your graphics card.I have a brand new system at home and took my older computer with me on the road. I meant to use it for a few spreadsheet needs but ended up upgrading it quite a bit and now I am really glad I did. Started with: Compaq Presario AMD-K2 380mhz with 64mb and a 4mb (shared) on-board graphics card powering a 14" monitor that was ten years old. I upgraded to this card, a 17" monitor plus 384mb of RAM and a software upgrade to Windows XP and it's like having a brand new computer. I've tried it with a few games and it works great. Using the "fish" screen saver at serenescene.com I am registering 60fps when I used to get 15! Most important thing to do before installing this card: Disable your onboard graphics card. How? Simply right click on the background of your desktop, select...Read more 11 of 11 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: PNY VCGX4P64SPB GeForce2 MX400 PCI 64MB Video Card (Personal Computers) I was sad to learn that my computer didn't have an AGP slot. I thought I was going to have to suffer with the performance of a PCI graphics card. Surprising enough this card performed better then I expected. Of course, I don't have an AGP card to compare it to, but it performs well enough that I forget that it's a PCI card. I can play most current games with the settings from medium to high (at 800 x 600 resolution) without much performance loss. So if you are one of the unfortunate people who don't have an AGP slot then try this card. Just remember it's still a PCI card...but it should keep you happy until you get a computer with an AGP slot. |
