It does not include a molex 4 pin to pcie 6 pin power cable converter, if you don't have one, or your power supply does not have a pcie 6 pin power connection, you'll need to purchase one. The good news is it draws very little power, My old generic 250 watt power supply has no trouble driving it, though a better 500 watt unit is in my plans. Nvidea's furnaces could never get away with this. I've been waiting for supply to catch up with demand, forcing a price drop to at least msrp, but there are just too many good games out there, I couldn't wait any longer. Of all the video cards out there, nothing tops this in the bang for buck equation. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Radeon 3850 256MB GDDR3 Pcie Dvi (Personal Computers) I replaced a geforce 8600GT by this one, and it made a huge difference. Now even Crysis is playable at 1440*900 if you tweak the settings a bit, the 8600 couldn't dream of doing that. Lifetime warranty, balanced performance, HD video, low power use, low noise.. There's a lot to like about this card. The only reason preventing me from awarding it 5 stars is that it didn't come with a PCIe power adapter, in places like Ecuador they're nearly impossible to get which meant that I had to wait for a while before I could actually use it. Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Radeon 3850 256MB GDDR3 Pcie Dvi (Personal Computers) The VisionTek HD 3850 is a great card for the money. It runs most of the newer games with a decent framerate. I bought it mainly for Oblivion, which looks great and runs nicely at 35-40 fps, sometimes higher. So far I have also played Half Life and Portal and they look great. Another nice feature of this card is that it is DirectX 10.1 for all of your future gaming goodness. I am currently running it on Window XP.
The power supply requirements for this card are for a 400 watt power supply. The card runs very cool and quiet. My particular package did not have a crossfire bridge connnector for running 2 cards, although I did have one that came with my mother board. It is important to note that if you plan on running this in CrossFireX, you will need a 550 watt power supply. My particular 3850 came from Buy.com through Amazon and the product was shipped and arrived very quickly. Overall great shopping experience. |
