This review is from: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4650 512 MB DDR2 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card 100253HDMI (Personal Computers) With a slim tower pc, a good graphics card is hard to come by. Especially with a limited 250 watt power supply.I thought the best i could get was a ati 3450. Then i found this ati 4650. It has doubled and in some cases tripled fps in graphic intensive games. And the best is yet to come. The optional over clock is easy to use. I don't recommend anything past 650 for gpu speed and 550 for memory speed with limited power (250 watt). So were i see the increase now, more is sure to follow when i upgrade my power supply and mobo.Though tends to run hot about 80 c (added externally powered fan to push hot air.Now its stays along 54c-67c with oc)

My previous video card was also a 4650 but it's fan was too loud and eventually drove me to pull it and buy something else.
This Sapphire card has pretty much everything you would want in a Home Theater PC video card : -Onboard native HDMI port -HDCP compliance for full 1080p BluRay playback -Quiet cooling fan -Half Height is nice if you have a low profile case. I don't so the included full height bracket was a nice value add -Windows 7 drivers both 32 and 64 bit I went to Sapphire's website and downloaded the two latest drivers from them, one being ATI's Catalyst drivers and the other was a transcoding driver. Once those were installed, I was up and running. I put a BluRay movie in and fired up Total MediaTheater and was off and running, no hdcp failures at all. Now here's my negative with the card. The website says that it supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD...Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) first, most important, if you do not want upgrade your power supply, this card might be the best fit. i have a 2009 HP desktop with on-board graphic card. and HP give it a 250w power supply. other parts of the pc include e7400 cpu, 3g ram, 500gb hard drive. i do not know what is the power limit left for video card. but i think most nowadays card would exceed the power supply. and after search online, I found this card would work with 250w power supply. so I decided to buy this. yes, it works perfectly. for game, definitely huge improvement over on-board card. game score for win7 jump from 3.1 to 6.4. it can run modern game smoothly with 1024*768 medium setting. by modern game. I only played like street fighter 4, devil may cry 4, blur, split/second. if I raise resolution, or quality a bit, it will drop frame rate. which sometimes still playable, but I want 100% smooth. so stay with 1024*768 with medium setting. actually on...Read more |
