Summary: Very good performance for the $$$$ 2010-06-26
Comment: A lot of people will hate on this card since it is considered a "mid-range" graphics solution. Yes, there are faster cards in the 5000 series to be had, but for the sub-$200 range, this is simply the best right now. Its not too long (but rather thick) does not require a lot of power (500W can do the job) and is quiet under load. Performance wise... while it can't pull off the feats of the bigger and more expensive 5850 and 5870, this card does just fine. I get a silky smooth 60 FPS in Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 with max resolution and eye candy cranked high. In the DirectX 11 compatible Battlefield: Bad Company 2 I'm getting an average of 30 FPS on max resolution with detail settings on High. (There is one above this setting called Advanced) All my games look great and run smooth. If you have the money to spend, then I suppose the 5850 might be a good choice, but if you are on a budget but still want gaming performance that will satisfy, the 5770 is a really good choice. Despite what the hardcore gaming press and rich elite technophiles say about this card, its a great performer and well worth the money for those of us who don't want to approach the $300 mark for a graphics card. Highly recommended.

Summary: Beware of BSOD/GSOD 2010-04-29
Comment: Bought mine through new egg. Seem to work fine and even ran great for a while under Windows 7 64bit. Unfortunately it was too late when I realized I had an issue. The black and grey screens of death requireing hard-reboots started happening when I started actually putting stress on the card with Mass Effect 2. It only got worse when I got a new 23" monitor (upgraded from a 19") and started running a higher resolution.
Long story, short-- it is now RMA'd with Sapphire. If you get a good one, you will love it. It runs cool and has nearly the power of a GeForce 260. But be warned there are some faulty cards out there. If my replacement doesn't work properly I will be buying a Evga GeForce 400 series!

Comment: So far it's still no complaint from my son. I guess this is a good product.

Summary: Wonderful card has serious problems 2010-04-16
Comment: I purchased this card in tandem with a new AMD X4 955 BE CPU and MSI 890GXM motherboard. Unfortunately, the card has serious issues with stability; at least under Windows 7 64-bit Professional.
A quick search on Google will confirm that many people are having problems. I called ATI/AMD and the tech support person told me they're aware that the card has problems (fast lines over the screen, system freezes and Windows 7 restarts the driver, and in 3-D games spontaneous reboots) and that they're trying to fix the issues with a new driver. The tech support person recommended not using this card, unless I needed multiple displays (which I don't) and instead recommended going to a Radeon 4850, which I am doing.
As for the other reviews, I can only think they have a different platform than mine. One person online did state he had the same problems under Linux...

Summary: very satisfied 2010-04-11
Comment: I promised i would write a review whether I had a positive or negative experience. Thankfully my experience was positive. I bought this to replace an aging ATI x1900 512Mb video card. In the new battlefield Bad Company, I was getting no more than 25-35 fps on low res during game play. I was just food for the predators moving very slowly around. With the 5770, i am running 50-60 fps on med res, almost doubling the performance. Of course this is still a bit low, but it is likely due to my aging dual core 6400 processor, not the video card.
I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a midrange card, installed nicely, no difficulties. Used the new catalyst drivers # 10.3 from the amd website. Worked flawlessly.
