The 4670 series requires no secondary six pin adaptor to power it, only the power fueled by your PCIe rail. While it is not as powerful as its big brothers (HD4850, HD4870, HD4870X2) it will serve adequately for an 'average' computer set up. If you're looking for a good card for an HTPC, this is a really good choice because of its low power consumption, ability to handle HD content, and its relatively quiet fan. If you are upgrading for the purpose of better gaming performance, you really should spend more and at a minimum get an HD4850 for just a few dollars more, even if it does mean upgrading your power supply also. Do not use the drivers that come on the install disk. Instead, go to ATIs web page and download their most recent drivers, as they update them monthly for better performance/bug fixes. Pros: 1. Let me start with the fact that I haven't purchased a video card in 10 years, and I struggled with this item, and had a hard time deciding if it would be worth it to throw another $50 or so and get a little nicer card, but now that I have it, I am pleased with this choice for my 2 1/2 year old HP Pavilion. My digital photo's look great, the color is amazing, and it plays Flight Sim X on max everything, photo realistic and it is very good, and plenty smooth, unlike when I tried to do the same thing with the onboard video that came with the computer. Previously, the game was nearly unplayable. I play call of duty with high resolution on a single monitor, and it is quite smooth and detailed. While it is not silent, it isn't overly loud either, and it comes with DVI to VGA, DVI to RBG, DVI to HDMI and S Video to RCA adapters all...Read more 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD4670 512MB DDR3 Dual DVI / TVO PCI-Express Graphics Card (Personal Computers) This is a nice card for those looking for good video performance without having to upgrade your power supply. There are far better cards for just a few bucks more, but all of those cards usually have higher power requirements. If your power supply is between 300-400 watts, then this cards might be the best bet for you. This card also runs the coolest for a 4670 chipset. |
