I'm updating my Dell Dimension 4550. This is a 10 year old computer designed for Windows XP. I have installed a 200 gig HD and Windows 7.
I was having problems with the original video board. My Windows Experience Index was 1.0, if their was a lower rating I think I would have got it. It was so bad you couldn't play any games, not even solitaire.
I installed the Sparkle GeForce 6200 video board today. I had to also install Java in order to down load and install the drivers for the board. The CD doses NOT come with Windows 7 drivers. The whole process took about 1 hour. I now have a Windows Experience Index of 2.5. This is not great as a new machine but it is very good for my 10 year old computer.
The hardest part of this whole process was finding the right board. I had to stay away from powerful gaming video boards because my power supply is only 330 watts. Also, most video cards were not compatible with my mother board, that is, socket availability.

My sister's Radeon 9200 did not support pixel shader 2.0. This card took care of the problem. It's not a fire breathing gaming rig, she just needed a little better card.
