With that said if you are looking for card to use for general purpose and HTPC this card works great !!! In my case I wanted more system ram and it was cheaper to buy this card and turn off the on board graphics to free up the RAM I have been using.. Anyway a few things about this card.... 1. It consumes less than 20 Watts and is fanless 2. Low power as in you do not need 400 or 500+ watt power supply to run this card, in fact this card would work good with many stock power supplies in consumer PC's 3. Windows experience with my setup running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 is 3.9 for Desktop and 5.8 for gaming graphics 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: XFX ATI Radeon HD5450 512 MB DDR2 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low-Profile PCI-Express Video Card HD545XYNH2 (Personal Computers) I bought this for my new Windows 7 x64 HTPC and it works well. It's silent and low power. I was also able to output the HD audio streams on Blu-ray to my Denon 1911 receiver through HDMI, and then the video from the receiver to the TV, using ArcSoft Total Media Theater.
Using ATI Catalyst software, I also set up a profile to output 24P to my LG 60PK550 plasma TV, which properly processes 24P, and it seemed to work great - no jitter that I could see. I also made a profile for 60P which I use to watch TV. I can switch between them with a hotkey. I wish switching to 24P (and back) could be automatic for Blu-ray movies, however. This card is not fast enough for fancy 3D games, so don't expect to play "sophisticated" 3D games on it. For 2D use or home theater PC, I would recommend this card. UPDATE 2010-09-04: I'm dropping a star because of the extremely annoying overscan issue. This review is from: XFX ATI Radeon HD5450 512 MB DDR2 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low-Profile PCI-Express Video Card HD545XYNH2 (Personal Computers) This little card is awesome for HTPC use - the HDMI outputs beautifully to my 42" philips HDTV. I have a PC in my bedroom - the card is ruuning two monitors, one to a 19" LCD using DVI and the other to my TV as mentioned before. I have not had any problems - it does not have a fan so it's quiet, and draws very little power so you don't need an extra connector from your PSU - plus since it's taking some of the load off the CPU it helps keep the entire PC running cool and quiet. You have to mess a bit with your system settings and the catalyst software because when you hook up a monitor / TV using HDMI it will run all system sound through HDMI only. In my case I only wanted movies to output sound through HDMI so I messed with it and got it to work as such. Great card, cheap and quiet. |
